Task
The project addressed three key objectives:
Faster Internet connectivity. NEC’s new equipment increased the network’s capacity, which significantly improved data transmission speeds and overall Internet performance.
Organization of international channels. The NEC solution enabled an increase in international traffic volume and expanded cooperation with foreign telecom operators — both to meet the needs of the country and to facilitate transit between the West and Southeast Asia.
Preparing for the future. Expanding channels based on modern digital technologies — both domestically and in connections with international operators — created the foundation for developing the digital economy and for the growth of Internet and related services.

This project became the starting point for the modernization of the company’s entire fiber-optic infrastructure.

Key Achievements
The introduction of DWDM delivered significant results:

• Faster network. The system began transmitting much larger volumes of data without overload.
• Broader connectivity. Integration with Asia–Europe international backbones expanded coverage and provided more stable connections with other countries.
• Greater reliability. Even under peak loads, the network continued to operate without failures.
• Foundation for growth. The upgraded infrastructure paved the way for new telecom services and digital transformation in Uzbekistan.

Results
More than 15 years have passed since the project’s launch. The solutions implemented back then still serve as a solid foundation for the development of the country’s digital infrastructure. They helped Uztelecom strengthen its position on the international stage and laid the groundwork for further growth.
